Getting Your Arlington Crash Report
Short answer: If the Arlington Police Department worked your crash, buy the report online through TxDOT's CRIS portal: $6 for a regular copy, $8 certified. Give it up to 10 days to appear, because that's how long officers have to submit it.
Before you search
Have the crash date, the county (Tarrant for most of Arlington), and a name, the report number, or a vehicle's details ready. The CRIS purchase guide walks through the search screen. Crashes on the Dallas County side of the area may involve a different agency, but every Texas police report is sold through the same CRIS portal.
Which copy?
- $6 regular copy: fine for reading it yourself and sending it to your insurer or lawyer.
- $8 certified copy: officially certified, if someone asks for one.
A card fee may be added, and ACH payments are held 10 days (TxDOT; Transp. Code §550.065). More on TxDOT's crash records page.
What if there's no report?
Texas officers must file a CR-3 for crashes with an injury, a death, or at least $1,000 in apparent damage, within 10 days (§550.062). If no officer came to your crash, contact the Arlington Police Department about a report.
Read it line by line
Check names, plates, insurance, the diagram and the direction each car was going. Mistakes happen, and a wrong detail can slow a claim. Tell your lawyer about anything that's off.
